Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali → Volcanoes National Park

Your expedition begins with an early-morning pickup from your Kigali hotel. We drive north through Rwanda's terraced thousand hills, stopping at the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a grounding, essential briefing on the country's history. Continuing to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, you check into a forest-edge eco-lodge with the Virunga volcanoes rising behind it. The afternoon is yours — an optional guided forest walk, birdwatching, or simply acclimatising to the altitude with tea in hand.

Day 2: Gorilla Trek - The Golden Hour

An early start brings you to park headquarters at dawn, where rangers assign gorilla families based on fitness and group size. After a briefing on gorilla etiquette, you trek through farmland and into the bamboo zone with an expert tracker team. The moment of encounter — one hour in the presence of a gorilla family feeding, playing, and resting — is the heart of the journey. You descend, enjoy a celebratory lunch, and drive back to Kigali, arriving by early evening.
